Our Mission

To cultivate sustainable growth, preserve Sankana’s unique heritage, and amplify the voices and talents of our people—bridging past resilience with tomorrow’s promise.

What We Do

Founded in 2025 by His Majesty King Bernard Anbataayela Mornah, the Sankana Foundation grew from a shared passion among Sankana’s traditional and civic leaders to propel our home region onto the world stage. Drawing on centuries of resistance, craftsmanship, and community solidarity, we established the Foundation to:

Cultural Preservation

Document and promote oral histories, festivals, and sacred sites

Community Empowerment

Support education, sustainable agriculture, and eco-friendly tourism ventures

Tourism & Heritage Development

Collaborate with government to develop museums, interpretive trails, and infrastructure

International Partnerships

Forge alliances with NGOs, policymakers, cultural institutions, and development agencies

United in Heritage. Committed to Progress.

Sankana Foundation is a community-rooted, globally-minded development and cultural heritage organization established to preserve, promote, and project the legacy of the Sankana people—in Ghana and across the diaspora.
Guided by the wisdom of the Sankana Traditional Council and empowered by the leadership of passionate advocates including Hon. Bernard Mornah, our Foundation serves as a unified platform for development, cultural diplomacy, and tourism growth.

Our Impact So Far

  1. Repositioned Sankana as a rising tourism destination through VisitSankana.com
  2. Mobilized community efforts during Kalibi Ganlaa Festival and cultural education
  3. Fostered partnerships with local youth, artists, educators, and diaspora groups
  4. Ongoing efforts to document oral histories and sacred spaces

Leadership & Champions

To know Sankana is to understand the story of Ghana’s resistance, pride, and potential.”
